To fit with my peculiar big happy hippie lovefest holiday cheer grumpiness, I present you this meme, which isn't hard to understand or follow. In the parlance of our times, I dig this shit bigtime. Yo.

Anyway, the meme follows:
Reply to this post, and I'll tell you one or a lot of reason[s] why I like/love/adore you. Then put this in your own journal, and spread the love.

As Micah said, it's okay if we don't know each other that well, I have at least one good reason for liking everyone on my friends list.

In other news, I just got a seasonal job at Macy's, gift wrapping in the cosmetics department. I get to play with shiny things and make expensive things pretty for people. It sounds silly, but I'm really looking forward to it.

the hedge abides.

So, now why do you love me?

I like how obvious it is that you have creativity just bubbling up from within, like it'll start spilling out of your skin if you don't do something with it.

You don't need a reason to love me. It's enough to know you do :) (and it's completely returned with interest)

I always wanted a sister :)

Welcome back to the Western Hemisphere, btw. :)

You, dear sir, have a couple of awesome things going for you in my book. The first is your commendable taste in friends and your willingness to be dragged halfway across the US by them. The second thing, which is something that I personally appreciate because of the fact that nearly everyone I hang out with is a scientist, is that you are hella smart and academic, but not a scientist.

I used to be a stockperson at Nordstrom. During the holiday season, I'd occasionally be pulled off regular tasks to help with gift-wrapping. I liked it. Not only was it a welcome reprieve from my day-to-day stuff, but it was oddly soothing.

I like to take the squares of tinfoil that cover the lids of autoclaved lab glassware and make snowflakes out of them in any free moment of time in the lab. I think gift-wrapping is going to be perfect.

Hell, even if it isn't, it's only for a couple weeks.

But I bet it will be.

p.s.- I love how you're really put-together and socially kickass, but you're a big weirdo, too. Way to break those geek stereotypes!

I adore how many useless things you know, in the best way.

Does that make sense?

you're going to be gift wrapping makeup?
excellent. for some reason, I find the idea of a carefully and ornately giftwrapped tube of libstick incredibly funny/satistfying.

Isn't it just a perfect little package? Plus, they'll all be nice, small square boxes. No big or heavy or unwieldy shapes.

I win.

I posted my love letter to you on your journal, if you haven't seen it yet.

I looooooove your moustache.

Like woah.

Seriously, the times that we spend hanging out are some of the times that I have been the most content in my life. I really treasure that.

p.s.- I took the picture for this icon when I was hanging out with you.

Ah ha! I remember, now! You'd only very recently gotten your digital camera (or you got it in MA and something wasn't working right... or SOMETHING). I believe we were driving about listening to Meat Loaf and stopped at Dairy Queen.

I do actually recall you taking that picture... now, at least.

Oh, man, now I really want meatloaf for dinner...

Nope, sorry, I've got nothing.

You have the best smile I have ever seen. You are also gloriously smart but also real, like you're obviously awesome but not threatening and you don't make people around you feel not good enough.

Your propensity for pet names and funny faces is also delightful.

I love your dumb science jokes, and your cooking is delicious, and I'm so glad you taught me about eating frozen peas. plus your hair is pink. what's not to love?

Dunno yet. I have a girl scout meeting on Thursday until 7:30, but I don't know what my work schedule will be.

/me realises that she should check her voice mail to see if her new boss has called.

Ok, I work next week on Saturday, and I'll let you know more when I find out then.

I have so many good memories of hanging out with you, and I've been thinking about you often, especially recently. Remember playing pool at that weird Irish bar in S Hadley with my parents our senior year? How is late spring down south?

I love your exuberance and your mannerisms and your matter-of-fact way of accepting other people. I love your stories and drinking tea with you and how easy it was to stay up all night talking without noticing the passage of time. I miss you a ton.

Oh gosh :-) Thanks for making me smile, I really needed it today.

Yes, I do remember going to the pool bar in S Hadley...it was fun to go there with you and your parents. And yeah, I could talk to you for hours and forget about time altogether. Please invent a teleportation device this year so you can come here and have tea, ok? :-)

Let me just say that the first day I saw you, this smart girl with the pink hair and a voice that makes you think everything is right with the world, who connects with the people around her in such a warm way, and who, I recall, was drinking soda for breakfast...well, I knew I wanted to be your friend. Dear, you are the only person I have ever sought out to be friends with.

I think one of my favorite memories was going to see Mars and you were at the telescope and you can see it on your face that you love what you do as much as you love to share it with other people...Oh but then there's also watching dark comedies with you...and running around at night with you and KC...or drinking Bailey's on the porch at Sessions...

I miss you a lot, too. I was thinking today how I'd like to get together and cook something cool with you. You know what I miss.. it's your laugh!

Where will you be the month of January dear? If you're in NY, it would be great to catch up with you.

Thanks for the meme dear.

Wow. Thank you.

I'll be in NY for all of January after the 3rd, with the exception of a weekend trip to Providence, but the timing of that is flexible. You definitely get precedence, too, coming from so far away.

Also, if you've been craving any girl scout cookies, I can totally hook you up. I will have nearly a thousand boxes of cookies in my apartment at some point in January, so just let me know...

What is your AIM handle? I've got some reverse transcription to do, so I'll be in the lab but with some down time today. I'll log into AIM, but I'm hidden to anyone not on my list.
