where did my snowflake go?
Nov. 28th, 2005 07:34 pmI badly need a haircut. Split ends like woah. It looked pretty cute short, maybe a little longer than my userpic, but it's awfully nice to be able to totally pull it back, what with the acids and the bases and the fire and the knives. All in a day's work, kids.
The haircut will have to wait until I'm back in MN, though. I'm hoping to trade some moving assistance with my cousin for a haircut. It's already horrible; another month won't hurt, right?
Thanksgiving was really nice. The food turned out well (especially that chocolate bourbon pecan pie- thanks,
pinktiger!), and we rigged up a sit-down set-up, which is really difficult when all you have is a card table, two chairs, a couch, and a loveseat. Erica brought an amazing salad, and Sy showed up, wine in hand, just as the other guests were planning to mutiny and start eating without him. Sy and Erica are two of the EID fellows here, so they've only been in Albany since the fall and they weren't going home for Thanksgiving, so it was nice to have them over. Brixton's bus was only a little late, and she came bearing the best ever candied yams and wild rice, and we got just enough snow to make even Albany look really pretty. The only way it could've been better was if Tyler had been able to come.
And, four days later, we are down to only a little bit of turkey and two slices of pecan pie. Next time, I buy the really big turkey.
Thursday is Carolyn's birthday, a Girl Scout meeting, and an EID weekly pot-luck. I'll go to Scouts after work, where we will make paper snowflakes and start on our crystals for our science badge. They'll each get to take a snowflake home, and we'll save the rest as decorations for our holiday party in two weeks. I'm really excited about this meeting, and I think the girls will really like it, too. I do need to remember to return that book to the council library, though, now that I think about it. The cookie sale is over, and I will just be the giddiest person ever if everyone remembers to bring their order forms and all accompanying paperwork to this meeting.
After my minion meeting, I'll head over to the pot-luck (what to bring?), then Carolyn and I (and others) are going to Bombers for her birthday margarita (it is free, has sparklers and is the size of a chicken. A large chicken.). I'll make a cake for her for lab meeting on Friday, then she and Rachael are having a joint birthday get-together at Juniors. Sounds like a good pre-weekend to me. Especially since I then don't have anything planned for the weekend itself. Sweet.
the hedge abides.
