voldemort can't stop the rock

Carolyn and I are departing soon for a mini-vacation to Western Mass. Sirsy is playing in Pittsfield tonight, so we're staying in a hotel in Lennox and bumming around tomorrow. Then back to the lab in the evening to do our cell culture, then up to Skidmore to see HARRY AND THE POTTERS. I'm super excited, but worried that the show will sell out. Also, because it's on a college campus, that we won't be able find the damn thing. Draco and the Malfoys had to cancel, though.

Harry and the Potters should play at convergence. Totally. They should also play at Mya's library this summer, which has a perfect little stage sorta thing right outside. Seriously, yo.

Speaking of wizard rock, Carolyn and Steve pointed me in the direction of Bilbo and the Baggins, who will be playing their first show on April 1st at Smith's ConBust, which looks like it'll be a lot better than I'm used to college cons in the east being. Not that that's saying a lot, but whatever. Maybe I'll go.

Looking forward to a potential visit from the RI contingent, although there are a lot of things that we won't get to this weekend, like model rocket launching, easter egg hunting, and piles of breakfast. This is sad, but schedules are hard, and some visit is better than no visit. Although, if they don't come this weekend, maybe they will be more inclined to come for longer sooner. Y'know.

So, my dear kiddikins out there in lj-land, what are your plans? What is exciting to you right now? If you were going to emigrate to escape our idiotic country, where would you go (Canada seems like such a cliche, and they don't want us anyway)? Are you in love (with person, place or thing)? Eating anything? Scheming anything? Enjoying/despairing over the weather? What would you put in your ideal garden?

Hmm. That's getting involved. But I'd still like to know. Feel free to answer some or all!

the hedge abides.

I would emigrate to France. For the pastries.
Or Italy.

Emigration would ruin my diet.

I'd probably try for scandinavia or the british isles. Though really, it's not like I'd mind learning weird languages.

Eating fair-trade dark chocolate with lime.

My ideal garden would be spooky. And it'd have weird stuff in it, as well as very ordinary things like basil and tomatoes and apple trees. I'd want some big flowers, the kind that look like daisies only not with the standard issue colors. Also, vines.

I'd head to Dublin for sure, but I'd also consider France or Sweden. Ooh, or Iceland. Brazil also sounds nice.

I'm in love. I'm trying not to be too loud about it because that can get annoying, but I'm so over the moon giddy in love.

I just finished eating some soup. It was something like beef fajita soup, and it had beans and corn in it and it was delicous for canned soup.

I'm scheming to pay off my debt by the end of the year. Boring as hell. Also decorate my coworker's side of the office with lots of face pictures of Josh Groban. Long story.

My ideal garden will have a windmill, tomatoes and rows of snap beans, and some neat outdoor sculptures, and a bench, and flowers and fruit trees everywhere. And a koi pond.

I would go to Germany. Even without that whole really speaking the language thing. Enjoying the spring weather starting up.. time for hiking and kayaking soon! Not really in love with anything. Just had a piece of dark chocolate. My ideal garden would have cilantro and a bunch of veggies and yummy things as well as pretty flowers. Too tired to scheme. Mm.. yeah.
